On Monday, August 10th, 2020 , the Rotary Club of Florence hear from one of their own members. Don Volland (@VollandDon) will be talking about Doing Business in the Soviet Union, A Historical Perspective. Due to previous technical difficulties, we had to reschedule Don for this week.
Between 1991-1994 Don spent 9 months working in Russia. The first 3 months in 1991 were the most challenging as Russia was still under the Soviet flag and trying hard to keep the Soviet Union together while other forces were trying to break it apart. The Cold War was thawing. It was certainly a very interesting time to try to do business in Moscow.
Don Volland is currently a Northern Kentucky Realtor. Prior to his Real Estate career, Don retired from Delta Air Lines after 30+ years of various capacities in Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa and Cincinnati. His Delta career fueled his love of travel which was instilled by his parents at an early age. To date Don has visited every US state, and 28 countries on five continents. Some trips were for business and some for pleasure or mission work. One of Don’s favorite sayings is “If everyone could travel there would be no prejudice in the world”. During his airline career, whenever the company needed a volunteer for an unusual assignment, Don would volunteer which opened doors to many unique experiences.
Guests are always welcome.
